Ed Michael

Ed Michael earned 3 varsity letters in football and 2 in wrestling. In his junior and senior years he was selected to the Binghamton press all-star football team. He played in the east-west conference allstar game and was named captain of the west squad. Ed's wrestling honors included championships of the Windsor Christmas Tournament and at the sectionals.
At Ithaca College, Ed continued to wrestle and play football. He was a co-captain of the wrestling team, won the 4-I championship at 177 pounds, and won the team's Outstanding Wrestler Award.
Ed coached wrestling and lacrosse at Corning Community College for 4 years, then served as head wrestling coach at the University of Buffalo from 1970-1991, amassing 260 dual meet victories and a .699 winning percentage. His many career highlights included a Division III national championship team in 1978 and the coaching of 40 all-American wrestlers. He was named New York State coach of the year 4 times. He has been inducted into the Ithaca College, University of Buffalo, State Collegiate Wrestling coaches Ass'n, and National Wrestling halls of fame.
