Mel Bell excelled at basketball even though he was a three sport athlete from 1947 to 1950. He was the team and conference leading scorer both in points and shooting percentage. Mel was captain of the team in 1949-1950. He attended Morgan State university. He was inducted into the Section IV Hall of Fame in 1978.
