William Szabo excelled in track, leading the IHS team to three undefeated seasons. He was personally undefeated in the 200 yard low hurdles and broke the IHS record 6 times. He won 3 Section IV individual titles and set records in his junior and senior years. He competed in the national indoor scholastic meet in Madison Square Garden, and won an athletic scholarship at the University of Idaho, where he competed in track and baseball. Bill served in the U.S. Marines from '41 to '44 and later attended Miami University of Ohio, where he competed in track and earned a masters degree in education. Bill is a member of the Section IV Hall of Fame.
