David was one of the most outstanding middle distance runners ever to compete for IHS before graduating in 1974. He ran Varsity Indoor/Outdoor Track from 1972-74 and Cross Country in 1974. He was Co-Captain of both sports his senior year.

David was undefeated during his single Cross Country year winning all his dual meets. He was STAC & Section IV Champion and finished 5th at the NY State meet.

In Indoor Track, David was undefeated in all league competition during the 1973 & 1974 seasons. He was STAC and Section IV Champion in the 600 yard, 1,000 yard and mile distances. He also was successful on several relay teams.

In Outdoor Track, David was STAC and Section IV Champion in the 880 yard and mile distances. His Two Mile relay team was 1st at States in 1974. At one point he held more than four IHS and Section IV records.
