Gerald Beach was a two-time Section IV wrestling champion. In his senior year, 1965, he was team captain, undefeated, and winner of the State championship at heavyweight. In football he was team captain, received all-state honors and was offered full college scholarships by over 20 schools.

He chose Syracuse, where his wrestling accomplishments included a 2nd at the Eastern Intercollegiate championships, and where, in football, he was selected to the all-east team.

As a Tackle, and played in the Gator Bowl and the Blue-Gray all-star game. He was signed as a free agent by the Detroit Lions. He is a member of the Section IV Hall of Fame.
