Don Armstrong starred in football and hockey at Ithaca High. He was a two-way starter on the '70 and '71 football teams, both undefeated. After his senior season he was a Binghamton Press all-STAC selection. At Hamilton College, Don started every varsity football game for 4 years, was a two-way starter his sophomore season, and was co-captain as a senior.

After the 1974 game with arch-rival Union, Don was given the Ralph E. Rue award as his team's MVP. Don earned a law degree at Albany Law School, and since 1979 has been a youth and high-school hockey coach as well as a practicing lawyer in the Cortland area.
