Josh Dennis excelled in both lacrosse and soccer before graduating from Ithaca High School in 1986.

Josh played soccer in 9th Grade for Coach Hoot Gibson and moved onto the Varsity in Grade 10 — starting for three years for Coach Terry Habecker ('05 Inductee). Playing Forward/Striker, Josh earned All STAC Honors in both Grades 11 and 12.

But Josh's real love was lacrosse. As an Attackman in five seasons, Grades 8 thru 12, Josh amassed a record 240 points. He was voted to the All STAC 1st Team twice — as a Junior and Senior — and played in two Empire State Games. As a senior he also was voted a High School All American and played in the North-South All Star Game.

Josh went on to start all four varsity seasons at Duke under former Ithacan, Coach Tony Cullen '75 ('02 Inductee), and was voted an All American three times.
