Megan played five years of varsity soccer, two years of varsity lacrosse, and ran track for two years for Ithaca High School. She set records for most career goals (108) and most career assists (72) in soccer until her sister Alison, inducted in the class of 2013, broke those records. She was selected 3-years for All-conference and All-State teams. She was also All-Conference in track and field and lacrosse one year.

Megan was named Ithaca Journal's Female Athlete of the Year in 1996, captain of the soccer team in 1997 and team MVP for 3 years. In lacrosse, she led her team to becoming STAC Champions, Section IV Champions, and State Quarterfinalists in 1995.

She went on to receive a Division I scholarship to play soccer at Penn State and played in the Final Four in 1999. She was also a three-time medallist at the Empire State Games.
